Pogba penalties give Man United win over West Ham

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini was left with the feeling of what would have been following his side's unfortunate loss at the hands of Manchester United in their Premier League meeting on Saturday evening.

Former Manchester United striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was back at Old Trafford on Saturday with West Ham United and Old Trafford faithful thanked the star for his service to the club.

Two Paul Pogba penalties - both debatably awarded at a closer look - handed the home side all three points. And United's first penalty was disputed as well, as Robert Snodgrass was adjudged to have fouled Juan Mata in the area.

"The second goal they scored was a mistake from us, but it was also offside".

Minutes later, United were given their second penalty of the match.

Solskjaer was unhappy at the six-day turnaround between United's two legs against Barcelona, while there are eight days between Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool's quarter-final ties.

"That is why we play football, to play against those teams, to play those games". "We got a great boost, now [it's] more challenging times with the results and performances".

"With VAR I think we would have won this game".

"When we play the Champions League, it's always nice to play against Barca, it's a dream for anyone", he told El Chiringuito TV. The stats showed that, as West Ham had 58% possession while winning eight more corners. "We're under no illusion it's going to be hard work and there will be some tough decisions made by me, Mick [Mike Phelan] and the club".

"Man United will be a hard game, but if we can win, it will give the players a good boost".

Manchester United players face a "survival of the fittest" to remain at the club, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They will be hoping to get the likes of Sanchez and Matic back into their plans as quickly as possible, as the big games are coming thick and fast at home and overseas.

The midfielder, who can also play at centre back, is understood to be on a basic wage in the region of £40,000, but that would likely rocket were he to move to Old Trafford.
