Mnuchin postpones decision on handing over Trump tax…

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had some strong words for Democrats who are continuing to pursue President Donald Trump's tax returns.

In a letter to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), House Ways and Means chairman Richard Neal said failure to comply with the new deadline would be interpreted as a denial of request.

Rather than saying that Democrats aren't smart enough to understand Trump's tax returns, it's possible that Sanders herself doesn't understand tax policies and rules surrounding the release of those records.

It's Tax Day, and a good reminder that Democrats have given the IRS until April 23 to release President Trump's tax returns.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin markers with lawmakers at the afternoon. But with a Democratic House - and Trump threatening to send migrants to cities like San Francisco, which is represented by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - the president hasn't set the table to get a bipartisan deal done.

Miller and White House communications officials did not respond Sunday to requests for comment on Miller.

Trump promised Americans as he campaigned for office in 2016 that he'd "take care of everybody" and he'd do it 'much better than they're taken care of now'.

"To date, the IRS has failed to provide the requested return and return information despite an unambiguous legal obligation to do so".

He said the administration is "analyzing the law" and consulting with the Department of Justice over whether the returns must be turned over. The law that Neal is relying on says the IRS "shall furnish" any tax return requested by the chairmen of key House and Senate committees.

Sanctuary cities are local jurisdictions that generally give undocumented immigrants safe harbour by refusing to use their resources to help enforce federal immigration laws that could lead to deportations. "Please know that, if you fail to comply, your failure will be interpreted as a denial of my request", Neal wrote in a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, adding there was "no valid basis to question the legitimacy of the Committee's legislative objective".

Neal has adopted a methodical approach to seeking Trump's returns.

Mnuchin wrote that the legal innuendos of this demand could influence preservation for all Americans against politically inspiring revelations of personal tax statistics notwithstanding the party in power.

"This was just a suggestion that was floated and rejected, which ended any further discussion", the White House statement said in response to the story.

But the sad truth is, and I'm not the first person to say this, we have a president who is a pathological liar, ' he said.

Trump broke from a decades-old custom of presidents releasing their tax returns, arguing that he can not do so as the IRS is conducting an audit.
