Two new Nintendo Switch consoles on the way

Two new Nintendo Switch consoles on the way

Since Nintendo has yet to confirm anything regarding the two new Switch models, we have to take everything with a grain of salt until official confirmation comes in, which probably won't take long now that word on the matter is out. The other system is described as a "cheaper option for casual gamers that Nintendo sees as a successor to its aging hand-held 3DS device".

According to the new report, Nintendo's more powerful Switch won't rival the PS4 or Xbox, but that's not too surprising.

A source explained to WSJ that the new consoles might not be what you expect.

Both new Switch models are expected to be announced at E3, which kicks off on June 11, with a release date set for a few months later. The report also cites multiple sources - "parts suppliers and software developers for Nintendo who have access to a prototype of the machine" - so it's not just one, lone voice doing the anonymous talking.

Over eight years after taking the world by storm, Nintendo's 3DS line appears to be winding down.

Although Nintendo continues to state that its focus is on current hardware, the company has been rumoured to have another version of the Switch planned for release. In order to drive the cost down, Nintendo will remove several features of the original Switch, such as HD Rumble, which was mentioned in the WSJ report. The cheaper version of the Switch will be made possible by cutting out the device's vibration feature, though Eurogamer said the specifics of that removal were unclear.

Rather than the same design with different internals, the story suggests each new model will have a new design, though not much more is known about how they'll look or perform. Again. Hey, we all do odd things when we're bored, only Odin can judge me back off man.
