Seattle shooting: Gunman kills two people in rush hour

The man, who is from the Sand Point area, allegedly then opened fire on a second motorist in a red Prius, killing the driver.

A King County Metro bus driver is being hailed as a hero after he steered a bus with a dozen passengers on board away from a gunman after he was shot.

None of the 12 passengers aboard the bus was hit, Metro said.

Police said the man's violent attack began when he approached a female driver near Sand Point Way Northeast and Bartlett Avenue Northeast.

(KOMO-TV) Two people were killed and another two are in critical condition after a shooting incident in Seattle Wednesday. He said a 50-year-old man was shot and killed at the scene and a 70-year-old man was killed in the collision with the suspect's auto, he said. Garth Green said police arrived on the scene shortly after and tried to coax the man out of the stolen vehicle.

After the bus sped off, the suspect then attempted to hijack another auto, shooting and killing its driver.

The suspect, who authorities have not yet identified, then shot the driver and the vehicle veered off the road, Garth Green said.

At least three people were shot, including one person who was killed, during a shooting in Seattle Wednesday, according to police.

Susan Gregg, spokeswoman at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center, said her facility had received a man and woman in their 50s, and a 33-year-old man following the shooting and crash.

Police then took the suspect into custody after a brief standoff and sent him to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver was hit in the torso but able to walk to a gurney to be taken to hospital by paramedics, according to Kenneth Price, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587. He said when he went outside he saw a man pointing a gun at people. The shooting occurred in the Lake City neighborhood. "I am grateful to the King County Metro driver who saved lives & to our first responders", Durkan said.

The incident took place around 4 pm Pacific Daylight Time, Wednesday (4:30 am IST, Thursday) at a bus stop near 120th and Sand Point Way NE during the late-afternoon commuter rush. "We will continue to come together to heal".
