Mueller investigation report doesn’t recommend any further indictments, source says

There has been speculation for the entirety of the investigation, lasting almost two years, on whether President Trump or his family members could face criminal consequences. Earlier, Trump, confident that the entire affair was a mere "witch-hunt", indicated he would not mind if the report were made public.

"The next steps are up to Attorney General Barr, and we look forward to the process taking its course".

Attorney General William Barr confirmed in a letter to Congress that he received special counsel Robert Mueller's final final report about Russian interference into the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with President Donald Trump's campaign. Now that the report has been submitted to the attorney general, Barr will review it and then be required to report Mueller's findings to Congress. Shortly after news of its submission, however, the ACLU demanded the report not be concealed from the voting public.

Robert Mueller, as FBI director, testifies before a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Federal Bureau of Investigation oversight on Capitol Hill in Washington June 13, 2013. Just this month, a unanimous, bipartisan House of Representatives called for the report to be public.

Barr may feel pressure from the Republican president to hide damaging parts of Mueller's report and release any findings that may exonerate him.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump plan to meet with Caribbean leaders Friday afternoon.

It's unclear what steps Mueller will take if he uncovered what he believes to be criminal wrongdoing by Trump, in light of Justice Department legal opinions that have held that sitting presidents may not be indicted. After Mueller turns in his report, Barr has said he will draft a second one for congressional and public consumption. Federal prosecutors, also in NY, have been investigating foreign contributions made to the president's inaugural committee. So when are we going to learn what Mueller found out? Manafort in the two cases prosecuted by Mueller's team was sentenced to 7-1/2 years in prison.

Some of the key questions are what Mueller will conclude about whether members of the Trump campaign engaged in any form of collusion with Russian sources, given reports of extensive contacts during the election with figures linked to Vladimir Putin.

Former FBI director James Comey said in a New York Times op-ed published Thursday that he neither knows nor cares what the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation will be - so long as the probe was conducted properly.

The probe is widely expected to end in the coming weeks, but Trump was focused on its beginnings rather than its conclusion, complaining about Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein's appointment of Mueller in May 2017.
