Met Office issues yellow weather warnings for snow and wind across Wales

The status yellow snow and ice warning will be in place at 11pm this evening, Saturday and it is expected to be lifted at 6am on Monday morning. No rain or snow is expected during the day Saturday, and temperatures will be in the low 40s and mid-30s.

It will be dry in many parts with sunny spells; however, a few showers will occur, chiefly in parts of the west and north.

And yet another storm system is forecast to bring more rain and snow to the region next Tuesday and Wednesday.

It will very windy this afternoon, with showers in the middle of the day, with most of the rain clearing by 1/2pm.

The temperature hit 32 degrees at 4:24 p.m. Friday, ending the below freezing streak at 58 days in a row making it the sixth-longest streak in history.

The Met Office predicts that: "The highest gusts are expected in coastal areas of southwest England where gusts are likely to peak at 55 to 65 miles per hour". Some thunderstorms are also possible, with as much as 1 to 2 inches of rain possible across the area.




Expect low visibility and slick spots for the interior if you have to travel Sunday morning. Rain will develop in the west towards evening and will spread to all areas.

In the Dakotas, the snow was expected to begin Friday night and continue through Saturday night. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78.

After weeks of bitterly cold temperatures and mountains of snow, it looks like the GTA is in for a bit of a warmup this weekend.

"Some travel disruption is possible early on Sunday". West northwest wind 9 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. It also advised people to fill up their cars with fuel today, and think about keeping a blanket or two in their cars in case of a breakdown due to the weather.
