Kevin Anderson reveals two HUGE advantages before Miami Open clash

Roger Federer moved into the Miami Open semi-finals with a straightforward victory over Kevin Anderson.

Anderson revealed all to Swiss radio station SRF, and mentioned that his home is only one hour away from the Miami Open's Hard Rock Stadium.

The 20th seed booked his place in the last four with a 6-7 (5) 6-4 6-2 win over Frances Tiafoe.

Halep won the final six games against Qiang and would return to No. 1 in the world if she wins her semifinal match Thursday night against fifth-seeded Karolina Pliskova - a 6-3, 6-4 victor over unseeded Marketa Vondrousova in an all-Czech Republic quarterfinal.

That triumph was Anderson's only win over Federer in six attempts - and the only time he's won a set.

The Swiss maestro will face Denis Shapovalov in the last four.

"It wasn't easy waiting for so long but I managed to stay aggressive", said Pliskova, who hit 29 winners to Halep's 18. "I think it's very exciting because of that". No, seriously, I'm going to go out and enjoy myself.

"It was tough because I know he keeps going and if you get passive you need to come up with a good passing shot".

After reaching the third Masters 1000 semifinal of his burgeoning career, Shapovalov draws the legendary Roger Federer on Friday. "They are not just young, but they are very good, as well".

Isner's power was evident on his first service of the sixth game when he handcuffed Auger-Aliassime and sent him stumbling to the right.

"Yeah, I think it's going to be a bit tricky, you know", Federer revealed before the match.

And a return to the world's No. 1 ranking could be her reward.

He added: "I'm happy to be back on the court".

Halep's recovery from 1-5 down in the second set showed the kind of mental toughness displayed by only the very best and the Romanian is looking in good shape to land her first Miami title, even if she is not overly consumed about the prospect of reclaiming the No. 1 tag.

Federer had to wait until the ninth game to break Medvedev and he was hardly comfortable in serving out the first set in the subsequent game.

"I just felt like, I don't know, the nerves got to me a little", said Auger-Aliassime.

The Canadian got his opening break in the seventh game of the first set and went ahead 4-3 before then holding serve.

A men's doubles match between twins Bob and Mike Bryan and Marcelo Melo/Lukasz Kubot was knotted at 2-2 on the Grandstand when rain halted play, but that match, and another scheduled doubles match were postponed until Friday to ensure the singles matches were completed.
