Jussie Smollett Case: Chicago Police Launch Internal Investigation Over Alleged Leaked Information

Jussie Smollett Case: Chicago Police Launch Internal Investigation Over Alleged Leaked Information

According to CBS Chicago, a nurse, who remains anonymous, said that she was sacked from Northwestern Memorial Hospital last Tuesday for simply scrolling past the actor's chart without actually accessing it.

The reason for any possible interest in Smollett's charts or health records is because of his "hoax" case that rocked the nation recently. As they fled the scene, Smollett told police they said, "This is MAGA country".

One nurse was reportedly axed but claimed it was a misunderstanding, and said she never accessed Smollett's chart.

The blast radius from the alleged racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett continues to grow - and we don't mean the actor's future onEmpire or his next court appearance. She says she wasn't asked any questions and never had a chance to offer an explanation. Prior to being officially accused of a staging a hoax, Smollett gave a televised interview where he expressed outrage at those who doubted his story.

Smollett has been freed on bond, after his Twitter-gasp-worthy arrest and has pleaded not guilty. Police claimed that the visible injuries to Smollett's face may have been self-inflicted. Nevertheless, she said, the hospital didn't want to hear her side of the story, and she thinks the same thing happened to other employees who were recently terminated. She is now appealing the decision.

Of note, several other nurses, perhaps dozens of workers who were formerly staffed at Northwestern Hospital have been fired, and this unnamed nurse is adamant that many of them may have been fired for "simply scrolling past" Smollett's name as well.

The hospital is refusing the comment on situation, citing confidentiality rules.

When the station contacted hospital officials for comment on the multiple terminations, a spokesman said company policy prevents him from commenting on the employment status of any of their employees.

His careful, heavily guarded, and private response prohibiting access to outside parties, is, incidentally, the expected protocol for health-related matters.
