Google Releases Android Q Beta for Developers, Early Adopters

Google Releases Android Q Beta for Developers, Early Adopters

While some of the latter will undoubtedly be interested in trying Android Q out as quickly as possible, the advice is - as always - to run beta code on a non-essential device, just in case.

With that said and despite the fact that the name of the initiative specifically mentions "Beta" software, initial developer previews of major Android upgrades have traditionally been more akin to alpha builds, so this premier version of Android Q is first and foremost aimed at developers who want to check out what Google has been working on in order to prepare for optimizing their apps early on.

Today, Google made the Android Q mobile operating system available to users worldwide.

Apart from the above, Android Q also introduces support for a new of new technologies. You can use the Android Emulator and download the latest emulator system images via the SDK Manager in Android studio. The first release of the OS is far from ready for public use and primarily meant for developers to try out Q and prepare their app for all the changes that it brings. Apart from that, Google will also let you decide how your app is shown on foldable screens.

Google expects to offer six Android Q beta releases followed by a final release in Q3 2019. The original Pixel, Pixel 2 series and Pixel 3 series all qualify.

Even if you had previously registered for the Android P beta, you have to register once again for the Android Q beta.

After enrolling, if it has been more than 24 hours and the update has not come, users should check if the device is connected to the internet. There'll be new limits on access to files in shared external storage, for example, as well as the ability for users to lock down location sharing with an app only when that app is in the foreground.

Android Q will also deliver better graphics, making Vulkan 1.1 mandatory for all 64-bit devices running Android Q and higher.

Android Q will also let the users jump directly into another app for sharing content using a feature called Sharing Shortcuts.

In addition, they can use Dynamic Depth data to create 3D images or augmented reality effects in photos in the future.

This is a very significant update for Android, as it happens to coincide with the launch of 5G networks around the globe. All the change logs and new features of the Android Q can be seen from the Source link given below.
