Apple Arcade, TV Plus, Streaming Service

Apple Arcade, TV Plus, Streaming Service

In total, there will be more than 300 magazine offerings inside Apple News+ at launch, Roger Rosner, Apple's VP of applications said during the announcement. It will have exclusive original TV shows, movies, and documentaries, from Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Octavia Spencer, J.J. Abrams, Jason Momoa, M. Night Shyamalan, Jon M. Chu and more.

The most eagerly anticipated of the products is Apple TV Plus, which will place the company in direct competition with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others in the burgeoning business of providing online TV and movie content. Going forward for users with up-to-date devices, the News widget will open into the Apple News app rather than loading web pages. It lets subscribers download and play as many games as they want, and it features cross-play between Apple devices and offline play.

The subscription-based video service is yet another piece in Apple's new strategy to push into the lucrative world of services as iPhones sales slow down.

Apple Inc. unveiled its next take on TV, challenging Netflix Inc.in the competitive video streaming market.

Today at its Apple Event, Apple announced a new game-streaming service aptly titled Apple Arcade. If you're already using Apple's service, you'll still have access to top and trending stories, as well as to your feed tailored to your interests.

Apple reportedly spent about a billion dollars on original content past year, and now we're finally starting to get a better idea of what they have in store: AppleTV+, a "new service unlike anything that's been done before".

Apple TV will also present current sports games with live scores, and it will be able to send you notifications when your favorite team is having a close game.

Apple TV Channels would arrive as an update to the Apple TV app in May, Apple said, and the app would arrive on Mac for the first time at some point this fall.

Apple finally revealed the game subscription service its apparently been working on for a while, titled Arcade.

A new Apple Card credit card will be integrated into Apple Pay on the iPhone, extending the company's reach into digital payments.

Apple watchers complained on social media that they could've done with less hype, and more actual clips from the shows.

Apple says Apple TV+ will be launching this Fall in more than 100 countries. Apple is partnering with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard on the Apple Card. Tell us in the comments.

Four years ago, we got our first glimpse at Apple News, created to provide millions of iOS users with easy access to curated, top-quality journalism. That might be good for readers, but it takes away the power of distribution from the publishers of the magazines and hands it to Apple, much like what happened to the music industry when Apple launched 99 cent songs on iTunes in the early 2000s.

Apple has plenty of money to spend, though, with about $245 billion in cash and marketable securities.
