Warren Launches 2020 Campaign, Sounds Note of Economic Equality

Warren Launches 2020 Campaign, Sounds Note of Economic Equality

US Senator Elizabeth Warren has formally launched her bid to stand for the White House in 2020 with a speech in which she promised to tackle economic inequality.

Warren will announce her 2020 plans at a mill site where largely immigrant factory workers went on strike almost 100 years ago, providing the longtime consumer advocate a fitting forum to advance her political platform.

Warren plans to unveil a new, high-profile backer in Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III on Saturday, who will endorse his former professor at the outdoor event.

During her campaign launched, she spoke on Trump administration, saying "It won't be enough to just undo the bad acts of this administration".

"While it probably would have been more helpful to respond more quickly after hearing how her response impacted folks in the Native American community, it's never too late to do the right thing", said Neil Sroka, a spokesman for the activist group Democracy For America.

"Now when I talk about this, some rich guys scream, 'class warfare!' Well let me tell you something: These same rich guys have been waging class warfare against hardworking people for decades", the senator added.

Warren delivered a sharp call for change at her presidential kickoff, decrying a "middle-class squeeze" that has left Americans crunched with "too little accountability for the rich, too little opportunity for everyone else".

"This is the fight of our lives, the fight to build an America where dreams are possible and an America that works for everyone", she continued.

"We believe that Elizabeth Warren is the most electable Democrat and the best person to be president to defeat Trump", Adam Green, the co-founder of PCCC, said.

Warren has often spoken of how her parents eloped after her father's family disapproved of his future wife's Native American lineage, but Warren for years could never produce documentation to bolster her claims. They're both leaders of the Democrats' liberal vanguard, but some Sanders supporters are still upset she didn't support him during his 2016 primary challenge against Hillary Clinton.

"America's middle class is under attack", Warren said in the announcement video in December. The paper reported Tuesday that Warren listed her race as "American Indian" on her registration card for the State Bar of Texas dated April 1986. However, New York Sen. "I want to see a revival of civic grace".

With the announcement of her exploratory committee, Warren became the first Democratic senator to declare plans to begin the legal process of running for president.

"I am in that fight all the way", she told supporters. Kirsten Gillibrand announced almost three weeks later that she was also launching an exploratory committee to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020.

But even as Warren sharpens her policy positions and political message, the specter of additional, previously undisclosed examples of Warren labeling herself Native American on professional forms looms in the background. She will travel to Iowa on Sunday and make visits to South Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, and California in the coming weeks.
