Two suspected masterminds of Kashmir bombing killed in clash

Two suspected masterminds of Kashmir bombing killed in clash

TV footage showed coffins wrapped in Indian flags carried by crowds in the troops' home towns.

Over 40 Indian paramilitary troops were killed in the attack, which has been claimed by the Jaish-e-Mohammad, a proscribed organisation. Separately, Indian authorities claimed to have "incontrovertible evidence" of Pakistan's direct involvement and pledged a harsh response. "When, where, by whom - our soldiers will decide".

According to a report in the Dawn, cross-border hacking attacks have been sporadic yet common since at least 1998.

Several cricket fans and a sport official have called on India to boycott a World Cup match against Pakistan in June, while the Cricket Club of India has covered up a portrait of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan - himself a former cricketer - at its Mumbai office.

It was not immediately clear as to how many days he will stay in Pakistan.

India held a briefing for envoys of 25 countries, including from P5 nations - US, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and France - in New Delhi on Friday to highlight Pakistan's role in using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. The comments on these pictures are thousands in numbers, and most of those are asking the government to "attack Pakistan".

Talking to the AP news agency on Saturday, the retired general said he hoped all sides would do some "rethinking and reconciliation".

One girl said they were "so scared that we were not able to open our room or to go out to have any food".

Pakistan has rejected India's accusations in the wake of the attack.

Adel Al Jubeir, Saudi minister of state for foreign affairs, said: "Our objective is to try to de-escalate tensions between the two countries, neighbouring countries, and to see if there is a path forward to resolving those differences peacefully".

Tensions between Pakistan and India have risen sharply recently followed the initial suicide bombing.

India has demanded Pakistan close down the Jaish and other Islamist militant groups that operate from its soil. India accuses Pakistan for harbouring the group.

The heavy death toll shocked many across the country and led the Indian government to say it would begin its retaliation by "completely isolating" Pakistan diplomatically.

Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan and claimed by both in its entirety. The two countries have gone through three wars over the region, but the conflict has not been resolved.

At the peak of a 2016 civilian uprising triggered by the killing of a charismatic Kashmiri rebel leader, Hooda called for all sides to take a step back from the deadly confrontation, suggesting that political initiatives be taken instead.
