Roger Stone Ordered To Appear In Court Following Post That Criticized Judge

She did not completely restrict Stone's ability to speak, but he is not allowed to speak in and around the courthouse.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered Stone to explain at a February 21 hearing in Washington why the post didn't violate a limited gag order barring him from saying anything that might bias potential jurors in an upcoming trial. This kind of attitude was in place yesterday when Stone posted what appeared to be a threat on Instagram, directed at Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

Minutes later, Stone deleted the photo and replaced it with one cropping out the crosshairs.

On Monday, Stone posted a photo of Jackson with what appeared to be crosshairs near her head. He dismissed any suggestion that he was trying to threaten the judge as "categorically false".

U.S. District Court judge Amy Berman Jackson is presiding over Stone's criminal trial in which he has pleaded not guilty to charges of lying about his efforts to gather information about hacked 2016 Democratic Party emails that were published by WikiLeaks.

In a statement to The Post Monday night, Stone argued that the post had been "misinterpreted". "I had no intention of disrespecting the Court and humbly apologize to the Court for the transgression".

Stone was charged as part of Mueller's ongoing investigation last month. Later in the day, Stone and his attorneys filed a notice with the court that they recognized the "photograph and comment today was improper and should not have been posted".

The case is US v.

"If you look at that posting, he has a picture of the judge".

Stone told CNN a "volunteer" who works on his social media posted the initial Instagram post and the photo was "random", and not "meant anyway to threaten the judge".

"I will, of course, continue to be judicious about my comments regarding the case", he added.

"Mr Stone recognizes the impropriety and had it removed", the lawyers wrote.
