Fury signed a 100 million contract with the promoter Lomachenko

Fury signed a 100 million contract with the promoter Lomachenko

The rematch was part of modern boxing's heavyweight remedy, a glorious sign that champions would take unsafe fights and would then agree to do it all again.

When the WBC mandated that heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder rematch Tyson Fury following their compelling December 1 draw in Los Angeles, it did so with the provision that if talks went to a purse bid, there would be a 60-40 split in favor of Wilder instead of the usual 75-25 split.

In a move that has clearly taken the boxing world by surprise, Tyson Fury, the man many still consider to be the lineal heavyweight champion of the world, has signed on with Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions.

We have said confidently since January, "don't worry, Wilder and Fury is a done deal".

According to BBC, this deal will span five fights.

Warren said boxing fans were set to see Fury having more bouts in the United States, regardless of his opponent.

However, the lucrative deal means former unified champion Fury's expected rematch with WBC titleholder Wilder is now under threat, given that the American fights on rival U.S. broadcaster Showtime, making an agreement unlikely.

While the big money deal is a positive one for Fury and his team, it could end the chance of a rematch between the Bronze bomber and Fury.

Arum is in a promotional war with Wilder's advisor Al Haymon and it looks impossible for the pair to do business, especially when both are backed by rival US TV stations.

The legendary fight mastermind said: "Even Deontay Wilder should be celebrating this because it shows how honest the involvement of ESPN in boxing is, they're in with both feet".

"He's stupid and ignorant, I thought he would be smarter", the heavyweight champion of the world added.

Before the news conference began, Miller proceeded to push Joshua as they squared up for the cameras.

"By partnering up with ESPN and Top Rank in America, we're giving Tyson the opportunity to perform on the biggest and most powerful platforms on both sides of the Atlantic and become a truly global star".

"If you're watching Deontay, I'm coming for you baby". Now that Fury has a signed and sealed broadcaster in the U.S.in ESPN and arguably the world's greatest promoter in Arum, he can sit down with Wilder and not have to concede on too many points for the rematch. "We all want it and will make it happen", said Warren. "Now we will get down to some "serious negotiations". "I would want to try to make it with Showtime and ESPN (working together)", Finkel told ESPN.
