Alan Dershowitz: FBI Probe on Trump Not Under Mueller's Mandate

Appearing Monday on Fox News Radio's "Brian Kilmeade Show", Dowd accused special counsel Robert Mueller, former FBI Director James Comey, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe of conspiring against the president.

"I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked", Trump said.

"I think it's the most insulting thing I have ever been asked", Mr. Trump told Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro when she asked if he has ever worked for Russian Federation.

In a separate development on Monday, CNN said it had obtained transcripts of two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials' closed-door interviews with the US Congress interviews which appeared to confirm that the Federal Bureau of Investigation leadership looked at whether Mr Trump fired the Mr Comey "at the behest of" Russian Federation.

Trump has repeatedly withheld details of his conversations with Putin, according to current and former USA officials, a practice that has left officials blind to the dynamic between the two leaders and intensified questions within the administration over the president's actions.

Trump never answered Pirro directly, but went on to assert that no president has taken a harder stance against Russian Federation than he has.

Trump responded to the reporting in a phone interview with Fox News' Jeanine Pirro on Saturday night.

He said: "I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked".

These include his former national security adviser Michael Flynn; former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort; and Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen. "I mean, it's so ridiculous", the USA president said. According to the report, those concerns led to the opening of a counterintelligence investigation, as well as a criminal probe focused on the question of whether Comey's firing amounted to obstruction of justice.

Officials also told the Post that they never received a full, detailed account of Trump's meeting with Putin in Helsinki in July 2018.

Republicans and White House officials have defended Trump's actions, saying he had been the victim of a number of leaks. "I certainly don't know what happened there, what they discussed", he said.

Though the investigation was opened, Strzok, who led the FBI's Russian Federation investigation, appeared to doubt whether Trump or the campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

Trump also objected to a report in The Washington Post that said he went to extraordinary lengths to hide details of his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin even from high-ranking officials in his own administration. Trump also told the interpreter not to talk to other administration officials about what was said in the meetings, the Post said.

The articles in the Post and Times as well as Bernstein's comments on Mueller's work underline how little is known about the special counsel's ongoing investigation, which approaches its third year this summer. "I have relationships with nearly everybody and that's a good thing not a bad thing", he said.

Trump has repeatedly denied any collusion.
