Real Madrid Coach Speaks After Team’s Fifa Club World Cup Win

Real Madrid Coach Speaks After Team’s Fifa Club World Cup Win

Real Madrid have claimed a third straight Club World Cup title, following a 4-1 win over Al Ain in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Al Ain reached the final after the United Arab Emirates club proved to be the surprise of the short tournament.

It's understood the reason was the Real Madrid man's infamous first-half tangle with Mohamed Salah that saw the Liverpool man leave the Champions League final in tears in Kiev as the Reds went on to lose 3-1.

In the playoff of the FIFA Club World Cup, the team had dug themselves a deep hole after falling 3-0 to Team Wellington.

Los Blancos have now won four of the last five Club World Cups and the victor of the tournament has hailed from Europe in the previous six.

Zidane achieved the unbelievable during his tenure as Los BLancos boss, and most worthy of mention was him winning the coveted UEFA Champions League (UCL) title three times in a row.

Madrid's home-grown midfielder Marcos Llorente doubled the European champions lead on the hour-mark with a superbly struck volley from outside the area.

Luka Modric, who won FIFA's Ballon d'Or earlier this month, had a goal and an assist in the final to help his side win its third consecutive championship in the competition. Real subsequently survived a scare when Marcelo misjudged a header and Hussein El Shahat's shot was kept out by Ramos on the line.

"I'm happy, the players deserve this", he said after the final whistle. The upset comes as a shock to River Plate, who were favored to win after taking home the Copa Libertadores crown less than two weeks prior. Al Ain's Caio put the ball in the Real net soon after but the effort was ruled out for offside, and for the rest of the first half it was one-way traffic as the Spanish giants looked to increase their advantage.
