Origi: It's an unbelievable feeling to win a Merseyside Derby

Origi: It's an unbelievable feeling to win a Merseyside Derby

Jordan Pickford's incredible error handed Divock Origi a scarcely believable Merseyside derby victor as Liverpool claimed a dramatic 1-0 Premier League victory over Everton.

The Belgium global, making his first appearance at Anfield since May 2017 after spending last season on loan at Wolfsburg, capitalised on Jordan Pickford's error to nod home from close range for a 1-0 victory.

"Divock Origi wins the derby, another added".

Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Liverpool have shown they can go toe-to-toe with Manchester City and a last-gasp victor over Everton gives them added momentum heading into a busy month.

Origi, who hadn't featured for Liverpool since the opening day of the 2017/18 season, was introduced as a second-half substitute with the game finely balanced at 0-0.

Liverpool's Brazil worldwide also threw out a perfectly-timed hand to interrupt Theo Walcott's progress as he went around him, forcing the Toffees forward to lose possession. How can I know what people make of that?

"It was a lucky day for him this afternoon but that is football". The manager told me to just play my game and play like I have been in training.

"I just try to play my game, whatever role it is".

"You can not make anything with these results in the past".

Everybody probably thought we'd settled for the draw but we've shown this season that we dig deep many a time and come up with the goods late on.

Van Dijk's horribly-sliced attempt led to Pickford's error but the Dutchman, who turned away in disgust as the ball looped up, will not be claiming an assist.

"He didn't apologise to me", said the Portuguese.

"But in the end it was fantastic it goes in like that". I'm not sure how Liverpool have not scored yet! "I told him how much I respect his work because it's incredible what he did with that team".

The win was vital to keep pace with City, who after their midweek trip to Watford head to third-placed Chelsea on Saturday, but Van Dijk insists they are not worrying about Pep Guardiola's side. We don't want to look for excuses but that's how it is.

"The manager emphasised all week we play our game, we do our thing", he added.

"It's something we've got to be proud of and hopefully it will give us momentum to go into this Christmas run, which will be tough for us, and hopefully we'll get a few more results like this".
