Migrants Arrested in Border Clash Won't be Prosecuted

A member of the notorious MS-13 gang, who was recently arrested, told authorities that he traveled to the United States with the migrant caravan.

A group of asylum seekers camping out at the U.S. -Mexico border have started a hunger strike to protest Mexico's efforts to block them from making their way to U.S. The protest group is part of a caravan of thousands of Central American asylum seekers who have waited for weeks in the Mexican border town of Tijuana to process their asylum claims.

Border officials said 29-year-old Jose Villalobos-Jobel, of Honduras, told agents he had traveled to the USA border within the migrant caravan group as well.

Some Central American migrants, mostly Hondurans, are traveling Tuesday in a truck from Mexicali to Tijuana, Mexico. The Honduran Consulate in Los Angeles confirmed he had served 10 years in a Honduras prison for homicide and another 3 years for robbery.

After further investigation, it was discovered the illegal alien was in Honduran prison for almost two decades after being convicted of murder.

An advocate for USA border enforcement says we can be thankful President Donald Trump's border enforcement policies are keeping thousands of migrants stuck in Mexico.

Around 11 p.m., agents detected three people crossing the border about one mile east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry, authorities said.

That's when he revealed he was a Honduran citizen and part of MS-13, CBP said.

Ramirez later admitted he was arrested and convicted for murder in Honduras and was released just four months ago.

Administration officials have portrayed the caravan as a lawless, violent mob, saying there are some 600 people in the group who have a criminal history.

"In April, another MS-13 member, Herberth Geovani Argueta-Chavez, 18, was apprehended after illegally entering the USA with a group suspected to be part of the caravan that headed for the border last spring".

Both arrests occurred last Saturday.
