North Korea's New 'Tactical' Weapon Test Highlights Military Modernization

North Korea's New 'Tactical' Weapon Test Highlights Military Modernization

A five-member North Korean delegation left South Korea will return home after wrapping up their four-day visit to attend an worldwide peace forum.

Then it would then have to acknowledge that the US troop presence in South Korea is not only to deter North Korea but "helps the United States maintain a military footprint in Asia and a grand strategy of American hegemony".

The US citizen, identified as Bruce Byron Lowrance, has been detained in North Korea since he was caught illegally entering North Korea via the border with China last month, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

North Korea in the past has held arrested American citizens for an extended period before high-profile USA figures travelled to Pyongyang to secure their freedom.

The reclusive regime freed three US detainees in May in an apparent goodwill gesture before a summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump in Singapore.

This comes at a time when negotiations between North Korea and the United States appear to have stalled over how to remove the Pyongyang's nuclear weapons.

"The U.S. should not meddle in the internal issues of our nation any more under the "UN" sign", it continued, citing the UNC's decision in August to disallow South Korean trains from crossing the military demarcation line (MDL) to conduct a joint on-site survey of sections of track to be used in future rail cooperation.

China "is wary of being isolated" as the United States and South Korea negotiate with the North on denuclearization, the commission found, and fears "losing out" if Pyongyang commits to a full-scale strategic realignment with Seoul and Washington.

We further assume that, therefore, this announcement was meant as a warning to South Korea's President Moon Jae-in.

Meanwhile, North Korea seems to be eyeing economic development amid a thaw in its ties with China.

Washington's talks with Pyongyang stalled last week when North Korea abruptly canceled a scheduled meeting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo amid US efforts to maintain sanctions while engaging in diplomatic negotiations with the country.

South Korea's Ministry of Defense said Friday the test shouldn't be classified as a "provocation".

"With Kim having publicly declared the economy a new priority and saying the North would denuclearize, many in the military who saw a decline in interest and support could be doubtful and anxious because he has not secured significant concessions like an end-of-war declaration", Kim, the professor said. Other experts suggested it might be a new, short-range missile.

Diplomacy has stalled since the Singapore summit, with Washington pushing for more action on nuclear disarmament and the North insisting the US first approve a peace declaration formally ending the Korean War and lift sanctions.

The U.S., the outlet said, had "bluntly put the brakes on the advancement of North-South relations in recent times".

"Various facts clearly show that the U.S.is the unreliable country and main instigator of destroying the world peace".

The North Korean military has almost 5,500 MLRS, 4,300 tanks, 2,500 armored vehicles, 810 fighter jets, 430 combatant vessels and 70 submarines, according to a 2016 assessment by the South's defense ministry.

The KCNA report said, "After seeing the power of the tactical weapon, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un was so excited to say that another great work was done by the defense scientists and munitions industrial workers to increase the defense capability of the country".
