How Ted Cruz Went from Lyin' Ted to Texas Ted

How Ted Cruz Went from Lyin' Ted to Texas Ted

President Trump embraced his one-time nemesis Sen.

At a rally in Houston on Monday night, Trump had proudly declared himself to be a "nationalist" - a descriptor that Democrats like Obama have used to describe the sitting president in verbal assaults on his politics. Cruz have moved on from 2016 and now work very well together.

With the midterm elections days away, however, the Cruz-Trump relationship looks remarkably different.

"Cruz has basically bended the knee and submitted to Trump's authority", Green said. "But actually if you remember in the beginning it was a love fest ..."

"This race is so tight, that Cruz had to ask his former arch enemy Donald Trump for a boost, and the President lend a tiny hand at a rally for Ted Cruz in Houston tonight", Jimmy Kimmel began. At stake on November 6 is whether Republicans can hold onto control of the Senate and the House and maintain Trump's one-party rule in Washington.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) debates U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) at the KENS 5 studios on October 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. It's called a nationalist, ' Trump told the crowd. He famously withheld his endorsement of Trump at the 2016 GOP convention and got booed.

And Trump again touted a "10 percent tax cut for middle income families" that he insisted were coming "next week" - although lawmakers will not be in Washington to pass them and most of Capitol Hill have been flummoxed at his vow of a new round of tax cuts. Trump, for his part, speculated that Ted Cruz's father had helped Lee Harvey Oswald assassinate John F. Kennedy, and retweeted pictures jeeringly comparing Heidi Cruz's looks to his wife Melania's. "He's a terrific, great senator".

The president also claimed that "50,000 people" were watching his remarks outside the arena on screens put out by the campaign - a figure far higher than statistics from Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, who tweeted that about 18,000 to 19,000 people were inside the at-capacity Toyota Center, and about 3,000 were watching outside.

Cruz touted his newfound companionship with the president. "Donald Trump won OH by 8.1 percent, he won Texas by 9 percent - people think of OH as a purple state, they don't think of Texas as one".

"I think the Democrats had something to do with it".

It must really kind of suck to be Ted Cruz right now.

He said he was referring to wealth the United States passes on to countries that "don't treat us properly" through trade deals and security organizations.

"Ted's opponent in this race is a stone cold phony named Robert Francis O'Rourke, sometimes called Beto".

"It all worked out nicely".
