Friday's Mega Millions jackpot soars to $1 billion

Friday's Mega Millions jackpot soars to $1 billion

The $1.6 billion estimated jackpot would be the largest prize in US history. United Kingdom players can win a separate prize by betting on the numbers.

The next drawing, which is scheduled for Tuesday (10/23) at 11pm, will have an estimated jackpot of $1.6 billion.

The Mega Millions game, which was created in 2002, has seen changes over the years that have reduced the chances of winning, meaning bigger and bigger jackpots.

As for the main jackpot, it is now up to $1.6 billion.

At some point someone is going to win the lottery, aren't they?

Lottery officials say there were no jackpot winners in Saturday's drawing.

Then on Saturday, no winners were selected in the Powerball drawing. Players get five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega number between 1 and 25.

While they didn't win the grand prize, they were fortunate enough to walk home with $1 million. You can pick your own numbers or the computer will do it for you.

For an additional $1 you can get a "Megaplier" ticket that will increase the amount of the smaller prizes, but not the grand prize. Fifteen tickets matched five numbers for second-tier prizes of at least $1 million.

The winning numbers were: 16, 54, 57, 62, 69, and Powerball 23. The odds of winning the jackpot are about one in 302 million but, with so many tickets being purchased, the likelihood of rollover becomes increasingly slim.
