Elon Musk says his transit test tunnel is close to completion

In another tweeted response, Musk said the test tunnel has a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers).

Elon Musk attends the premiere and Q&A for "Do You Trust This Computer?" at The Regency Village Theatre in Westwood on April 5, 2018.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter on Sunday that his Boring Company, which aims to lower the cost of building high-speed transit tunnels, has nearly completed its first tunnel. Steve Kuzj reports for the KTLA 5 News at 10 on October 21, 218.

Elon Musk moved a step forward in his vision for the future of public transportation, announcing that his Boring Co.'s hyperloop test tunnel will open in less than two months. Through his tunnel-digging firm, the Boring Co., Musk envisions the construction of a zero-emissions underground transit system that transports people using high-speed electric sleds.

The Tesla CEO took to Twitter to declare that its first high-speed transit tunnel is nearly complete and ready to run beneath Hawthorne in the Los Angeles area.

The company has also touted plans to have its systems run high-speed travel between cities.

By lowering the cost of building tunnels and providing a transit alternative to driving, the company would help alleviate city congestion and offer high-speed transportation options across the country.

In a follow-up tweet, a fan asked whether the December 10 opening was "in real time or Elon time?" and Musk replied "I think real".
