Trump calls Kavanaugh testimony powerful, calls for Senate vote

According to his prepared testimony, Kavanaugh plans to tell senators that he "said and did things in high school that make me cringe now" - but that he "never did anything remotely resembling what Dr. Ford describes". "A bunch of us went to dances with her", said Kavanaugh, adding that it did not refer to sex. She calmly responded to repetitive factual queries, even when the lines of questioning by Rachel Mitchell, the female prosecutor hired by Republicans to put a gentle, feminine sheen on their skepticism toward Dr Ford, veered into the insulting and preposterous.

She wrote she witnessed Kavanaugh "engage in abusive and physically aggressive behavior toward girls, including pressing girls against him without their consent, grinding against girls and attempting to remove or shift girls' clothing to expose private body parts".

Ford has alleged that Kavanaugh's friend, Mark Judge, was in the room watching and laughing.

"Turn to [White House counsel] Don McGahn and to this committee and say for the sake of my reputation, my family name and to get to the bottom of the truth of this, I am not going to be an obstacle to an FBI investigation", Durbin urged. This was what terrified me the most, and has had the most lasting impact on my life.

"She was a great friend of ours".

Kavanaugh came out swinging-or, rather, screaming-and went on to be combative with Democratic senators, refuse to answer certain questions, and give fishy responses to others.

"So this could not be a case of mistaken identity?" the committee's top Democrat, Sen.

Avenatti tweeted four pages of a declaration from Julie Swetnick of Washington, D.C., who said she holds four active clearances with the federal government, and who asked for privacy and no followup media interviews.

Ford told The Post that she told her therapist and her husband about the encounter in 2012.

Ford released sworn statements from people who said she had told them about the assault in later years. Patrick Leahy, who asked for her strongest memory of the incident.

Dr Christine Blasey Ford, a professor at Palo Alto University, is due to testify before the committee. She also described nervousness while flying. He was having a hard time because he was inebriated... Republicans control the Senate 51-49 and can lose only one vote.

Kavanaugh's blistering opening statement was a marked departure from Ford's subdued comments, with the Supreme Court nominee delivering an incensed denial of the allegations, saying he's "never sexually assaulted anyone - not in high school, not in college, not ever". "Since my nomination in July, there's been a frenzy in the left, to come up with something - anything, to block my confirmation". The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) saw a 147% increase "above normal volume" in calls to the National Sexual Assault Hotline on Thursday.

She dispatched with a freakish theory posited by Republicans that it was not Brett Kavanaugh that assaulted her, but some sort of evil twin or doppelgänger who Dr Ford had mistaken for the judge.
