Tesla's Musk smokes marijuana on comedy podcast

Tesla's Musk smokes marijuana on comedy podcast

Chief accounting officer Dave Morton announced in a filing Friday that he had left the company this past Tuesday after only a month on the job.

This comes after CEO Elon Musk was seen smoking a blunt with tobacco and marijuana on Joe Rogan's podcast and it was revealed that a couple of C-suite executives resigned.

FILE- In this June 24, 2018, file photo Tesla CEO and founder of the Boring Company Elon Musk speaks at a news conference in Chicago. Morton, who left his role as Seagate (STX)'s CFO to join Tesla, was not flustered by the tweet and met with Musk to go over various details that would make a take-private hard. Tesla shares, down just 1 percent after Musk's appearance on the Rogan podcast overnight, fell as much as 10 percent after Morton's resignation and were still down 5.1 percent at $266.75 in late morning trading.

Musk announced later in August that the company would remain public. Rogan passes the joint to Musk, who also takes a sip of whiskey. The stock has plunged 31 percent since Musk floated the idea of taking the auto maker off the public market, lopping billions of dollars off the company's market value. Of his past experiences with smoking, the actor had this to say:"I'm not a regular smoker of weed", he mused. "I don't actually notice any effect".

It was the latest in a string of unconventional behavior by the billionaire South African native who is also CEO of rocket startup SpaceX. Musk has said he stands by his initial tweet about the company going private. It said Morton had no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or financial reporting.

Analysts on Friday reiterated their call for Tesla to bring in another senior leader.

Tesla stock (NASDAQ:TSLA) is down 6% in Friday's intraday amid reports that the company lost two more executives, with Chief Accounting Officer David H. Morton, Jr. leaving his post after just two months and Chief People Officer Gabrielle Toledano confirming that she would not be coming back from a leave.

"We think this is further evidence that the time is now for management and the board to address these issues".

Toledano would be the second high-level executive to resign from the company this week.

Prominent short-seller Andrew Left has sued Tesla and Musk, saying in his proposed class-action complaint on Thursday that Musk's issuance of materially false and misleading information related to his abandoned plan harmed both short-sellers and those hoping the stock would rise.
