Democrats send 'information' concerning Kavanaugh nomination to Federal Bureau of Investigation

"I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court".

Senate Democrats have referred "information concerning the nomination" of Brett Kavanaugh to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, they said Thursday, and called for the Judiciary Committee to delay a vote.

The Times story says Feinstein was made aware of this information during the summer, which raises the question of why she waited until Wednesday to share it with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to The Intercept, the person who sent the letter was relaying information about an incident allegedly involving someone else and Kavanaugh from when the Supreme Court nominee was in high school.

"Certainly, the way Feinstein has handled it shows she doesn't think there's much to it", he said.

And The Intercept adds: "The woman who is the subject of the letter is now being represented by Debra Katz, a whistleblower attorney who works with #MeToo survivors". "She claimed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was launching an '11th hour attempt to delay" the confirmation.

The White House also stood by the nominee.

Among the details in the new written responses, Kavanaugh says he would have shaken the hand of a school shooting victim's father during a break in last week's Senate hearing had he recognized him before being whisked away by security detail.

But The New York Times, citing two officials familiar with the matter, reported about the nature of the allegations against the 53-year-old Trump nominee.
