Sarri wants to keep Hazard at Chelsea and improve him

Sarri wants to keep Hazard at Chelsea and improve him

It is thought that player's displays during the World Cup in Russian Federation have accelerated a deal, and the fact the price quoted for the shot-stopper has dropped to a value acceptable to the Real hierarchy, believed to be around £36million.

Interestingly, after Belgium's win over England's Three Lions in the bronze medal final match at the World Cup last Saturday, the 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder admitted he was considering his future.

The Sunday Times have claimed Eden Hazard has asked to leave Chelsea and that the club are working on a deal to bring in Anthony Martial from Manchester United as his replacement.

Chelsea and Madrid are well apart in their valuation of the player, but Hazard may play a part by forcing through a move.

But Courtois' likely departure leaves Chelsea supporters wondering who new manager Maurizio Sarri has targeted as the club's No 1 for next season.

"He is the best player at the club and we need a Chelsea to keep the best players". Sarri wants more quality in the midfield area to fit his preferred approach, while adding that he could also adapt to the players he now has in the squad.

And his "people know my preferred destination" comment was widely interpreted as a flirtation with Real.

"The players you are referring to are very high level players and I would like to keep them in my squad", the Italian said at his unveiling on Wednesday.

Courtois will be out of contract next summer and Chelsea are keen on selling him sooner than later, according to the report. I think he's our best player.

The Sunday Express ran a similar story, reporting that Chelsea will not sell the Belgian unless they decide they want to. "For sure, we want him to stay".

"Everyone loves him - the fans, the club, the players, and we need him".

He said: "I will go back and I will see what they want and how they say it". He spoke of his disinterest in the transfer market and said he would be content to coach the players already at his disposal.
