Cam Newton confronts Kelvin Benjamin before Bills-Panthers game. Twitter goes nuts

"I wasn't even trying to listen", a dismissive Benjamin said of the altercation. A first-round pick by the Panthers in 2014, Benjamin was traded to the Bills midway through last season for a pair of draft picks.

Following the game, Cam kept quiet about the incident, but Benjamin spoke up a little about why he showed little interest in listening to Newton and what he had to say.

Benjamin, who said he would have been more successful if he was drafted by Carolina and had a "quarterback with knowledge", brushed the encounter aside after Carolina won the preseason meeting 28-23. Newton appeared to extend his hand to Benjamin to offer a handshake, but Benjamin declined.

After Benjamin's comments were published, McDermott expressed disapproval, saying Sunday (via ESPN), "There's a time and a place - I'm not saying specific to what comments were made - there's a time and place for things like that. So we'll move forward as a team, and I'm hoping we've already done that".

Former Carolina Panther DT Star Lotulelei was welcomed with open arms by Luke Kuechly. I don't know, man ... He then asked Thomas Davis to give them some space so he could confront Benjamin about his comments.

It was a not-so-veiled shot at Cam Newton, which led to a curious scene ahead of Thursday's preseason game between the Bills and Panthers.
