Trump denies report he's frustrated with North Korea

"Since these facilities are believed to have played an important role in the development of technologies for the North's intercontinental ballistic missile program, these efforts represent a significant confidence-building measure on the part of North Korea", it said in a report.

Dealing with the fallout from two summits at once, President Donald Trump says he's "very happy" with the pace of North Korea's denuclearization, despite Kim Jong Un having taken no major steps toward that aim since their summit in Singapore last month.

A United States defence official, however, told AFP that the Pentagon was not closely tracking activities at Sohae in terms of how it relates to the denuclearisation of North Korea.

"We can't do one thing until we see North Korea respond to their promise to denuclearise".

The US Department of State, with the US Department of the Treasury and the US Department of Homeland Security, issuing this advisory to highlight the sanctions evasion tactics used by North Korea that could expose businesses - including manufacturers, buyers, and service providers - to sanctions compliance risks under USA or United Nations sanctions authorities.

Jenny Town, managing editor of 38 North, which is based at Washington's Stimson Center, said the work at Sohae could be an important move to keep negotiations going.

Sohae, on the northwest coast of North Korea, has been used to test rockets, with the aim of putting a satellite into orbit.

For his part however, Trump has privately expressed frustration over the perceived lack of progress in the talks, according to a USA official, though he regarded the testing freeze as a positive sign.

And that includes the restoration of military training exercises with South Korea which Trump suspended in a nod to Kim.

Businesses should be aware of these deceptive practices in order to implement effective due diligence policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements across their entire supply chain.

After that summit, Trump said Kim had pledged to dismantle a missile site.

Critics of the Singapore deal claim the document lacks specifics and does not tie North Korea to a firm timetable on denuclearization or giving up its current nuclear weapons. "Japan is happy, all of Asia is happy".

Trump and Kim also agreed to the "building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula", including the providing of "security guarantees" to North Korea. "We have no time limit", Trump told reporters last week.

Asked about the change in tone, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert sought to reassure: "We have teams in place that are working very hard on this issue every day", she said.
