Cohen's new lawyer slams Giuliani over Russian Federation investigation

Cohen's new lawyer slams Giuliani over Russian Federation investigation

On NBC's "Meet the Press", Giuliani said Trump's longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen should feel free to cooperate with the special counsel and federal prosecutors investigating him, encouraging Cohen to flip on the president.

According to NPR, Guiliani said in an interview that Cohen should cooperate with prosecutors, and that "as long as he tells the truth" there would be no negative effect for Trump.

Cohen's home, office and a hotel room in NY were raided by the FBI in April as part of an investigation into his business dealings.

"It's our, it's our firm belief, and we think nothing contradicts this, that the president did nothing wrong", Giuliani said.

The Times reported that Giuliani said the White House would not agree to an interview between Trump and Mueller unless investigators can prove that they have evidence that Trump committed a crime as well as that such an interview is essential to concluding the probe. "I put family and country first".

Trump has insisted that he wants to do an interview with Mueller. "And my sources are telling me that he said that the truth is not you or your client's friend".

Giuliani echoed this sentiment on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday.

Cohen has scrubbed a reference of his long-time representation of Trump from professional credentials, saying recently, "My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will", not the president.

"I think it's more likely that Trump will kick the can down the road", she remarked.

Following reports last week that Giuliani said he wants the special counsel Robert Mueller to show a "factual basis" before Trump agrees to testify under oath, Giuliani upheld his suspicion of the investigation's roots. "Or is there a factual basis for this?"

The letter, obtained by the Associated Press, underscores the intense effort by Trump's legal team over the previous year to tarnish Comey's reputation and pit the president's word against that of the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director. That's something you can decide down the road, one way or the other, " Giuliani said.

Still, Michael Cohen and Lanny Davis' public statements about the president and the truth all appear to promise a big reveal in the near future.

These sources would not comment on whether Cohen's attorney, Guy Petrillo, has been meeting with prosecutors in NY and referred inquiries about any potential case to Petrillo.

Stephanopoulos said he asked Cohen repeatedly if he was considering cooperating with prosecutors in their investigation.

Cohen was Trump's self-described fixer and a key player in the Trump Organization for more than a decade, regularly berating reporters and threatening lawsuits against anyone who posed a challenge to his boss.
