30-year-old evicted by parents finally leaves home

Despite his objections and please for more time to prepare to move, a New York State Supreme Court Justice ruled in favor of the parents and gave Rotondo until noon Friday to get out.

Michael Rotondo honked and waved to reporters Friday morning as he pulled out of the driveway of his parents' home in Camillus (kuh-MIHL'-us), New York. Rotondo, whose eviction from his parents' home drew national attention finally left hours before a court-ordered deadline. Rotondo says he still believes he should have been granted more time to move out.

"I woke up. My buddy sends me a link for a BBC article saying 'Haha this is amusing are you getting sued by your parents?' I was like 'Haha that is amusing especially that is the same name, same spelling same age, '" the Capital Region's Rotondo told the Syracuse TV station. He's said that the eviction from his parents' house is in retaliation for his losing visitation and that he was a good father.

Rotondo had moved out before the 12 p.m. ET court-ordered deadline.

Rotondo tells TMZ. he called the cops on his father in the midst of the moving process because his dad refused to hand over some toys he wanted to pack for his child - yes, Michael has a son.

They failed once again, however, so they reportedly offered their son $1,100 to "find a place to stay".

Officers arrived and the Lego bricks were found in the meantime, the newspaper said. Michael has been living with them for eight years since losing a job, and they had made several efforts to get him out before taking the case to a judge - including offering him over $1,000 to offset moving costs.

The caller said "loser", and then hung up.

He says he plans to spend his first night on his own at an Airbnb.

He said he felt "great" about the move but maintained he wouldn't continue his relationship with his parents. Asked if that marks a dramatic change in his thinking, given his recent hard-fought court battle, Rotondo answered succinctly.
