Melania Trump to announce formal platform

Melania Trump to announce formal platform

From challenges facing children to the opiod epidemic, a look at First Lady Melania Trump's policy agenda.

Melania Trump will announce her eagerly awaited formal platform on Monday during a Rose Garden event, almost 16 months into her tenure as US First Lady, the media reported.

"As has been evidenced by the many events Mrs. Trump has participated in during her time as first lady, her focus will be the overall well-being of children", the first lady's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN.

"Mrs. Trump wants to help the following generation by developing change as a result of awareness on a variety of issues that impact children". Former first lady Michelle Obama made efforts toward improving child education, poverty and nutrition. Her focus on social media extends from her previous work during the 2016 campaign when she championed combatting cyber bullying as one of her first platforms as first lady.

The part of 1st lady, when it comes of giving birth to a formal, branded stage, is marginally undefined.

During almost 16 months as first lady, Mrs. Trump demonstrated her interest in children by visiting with young hospital patients in the USA and during overseas trips with the president, often reading to them and encouraging them to do their best.

In March, the first lady hosted representatives of the major online and social media companies at the White House to discuss cyberbullying and internet safety.

The first lady said social media can both "positively and negatively" affect children.

The first lady said it was the responsibility of adults to help support children as they grow to become productive members of society and the global community. "Melania, your care and compassion for our nation's children, and I have to say this, and I say to all the time, inspires us all".

Mrs. Trump took a little more time to pull her initiative together. Her choice was ridiculed nearly immediately, given her husband's longtime habit of calling people names on Twitter, but Mrs. Trump said the criticism wouldn't discourage her from doing what she thinks is right.

During the assembly, the first lady appeared to deal with elephant in the room: her partner's frequent use of namecalling in his tweets. "I have been criticized for my commitment to tackling this issue and I know that will continue, but it will not stop me from doing what I know is right".
