Google Maps and Google Lens giving more personal results

Google Maps and Google Lens giving more personal results

Google Maps is adding a "For you" section as well.

The feature is simple: once you've set your destination in maps, you open your camera and point it in the direction you're facing and Google's machine learning magic will toss up some arrows to let you know which way to start walking. You will soon find a new tab in Google Maps called "For You" that is created to tell you what you need to know about the places you care about. "You can rate places on Google Maps, which helps us determine which restaurants you like so we can improve your match for similar places moving forward". Google has also admitted that it is thinking of inserting animated characters to the new feature like a fox to make it more entertaining, according to Apple Insider. In the new camera interface, users will be able to tell precisely where they are and where they need to go. You can share a place or business with friends, and everyone you share it with can vote on whether to go there or not, all through Google Maps. Who doesn't know which direction you're facing when the tool says "turn south?"

When you check out a particular area on the map, you'll see dining, event, and activity options based on the area you're looking at.
Among the key features will be a personalized score indicating how much Google thinks you'll enjoy a restaurant or bar (at least on the surface, comparable to Netflix's percentage telling you how much you might like a movie). Virtual cards listing information about businesses and restaurants along your route could pop into view, helping you find places to eat along the way.

A shortlist feature aims to make it easier to select places to eat or hang out and have your friends vote on their choice, which will hopefully eliminate a lot of the back-and-forth now going on in your messaging app. The company also did not divulge if all new features are coming to both Android and iOS, but it's safe to assume that they are heading to the app for iPhones and iPads due to the advanced augmented reality technologies of Apple's devices.
