Facebook accidentally rolls out feature to flag any post as 'hate speech'

Scroll to the bottom for Facebook's response.

"All of a sudden Facebook has added a button to EVERY SINGLE POST ON MY FEED asking if it's hate speech", Twitter user Sean Breslin posted Tuesday.

As of this morning, it would appear that they do not have definitive answers to these essential questions.

Just last month, Zuckerberg testified before Congress on how Facebook will respond to the data scandal involving firm Cambridge Analytica.

Recently, Facebook has faced criticism from conservatives for censoring speech, manipulating user news feeds, and suppressing certain stories as "spam".

The "hate speech" question appeared for less than 30 minutes before disappearing by noon ET.

And for the Family Research Council.

Options shown after choosing "Yes" seemed insufficient, and included the words "Test".

Some did not take kindly to this option. Here's an example.and I'm not sure, but those onions look a little aggressive and hateful don't you think?

Facebook said it was "an internal test" and that a bug caused it to accidentally launch publicly.

While it's already possible to identify Facebook posts that contain hate speech via the "Give feedback on this post" or "Report this post" options, Facebook's new prompt will seemingly provide users with a more direct way to bring hateful content to Facebook's attention. The social media platform defines hate speech as, "Content that attacks people based on their actual or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or disease is not allowed", according to the company's website.
