Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins, 4-21-2018 - Expert Prediction

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins, 4-21-2018 - Expert Prediction

On the verge of their first playoff series win in four years, the Boston Bruins may or not have star and leader Patrice Bergeron back for Game 5 of their first-round series with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy noted that getting Bergeron back on the ice is a step forward in his recovery efforts a adding that he has not been ruled out for Game 5 against Toronto Saturday night at TD Garden.

The B's, ahead 3-1 in the series after winning Game 4 in Toronto on Thursday night without Bergeron, won't let that lead influence any decisions.

Following a regular season where they scored on 24.5 percent of all power-play opportunities (the fourth-best), the Bruins have connected on 45.5 percent of their postseason power play opportunities.

Nash took Bergeron's spot up the middle on the top line alongside David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand on Thursday and did enough to make the Bruins forget that their four-time Selke Trophy victor was a late scratch from the lineup. As for Boston, they need to come out of the gate like they did in the first two games and score first. With centre Nazem Kadri serving the second of his three-game suspension on Monday and Toronto having last change with home-ice advantage, Babcock felt the need to move Plekanec up in the lineup with the hope of maximizing what he could get out of the veteran centre.

Marchand snapped a 1-1 tie with 3:05 left in the second period after the Bruins were whistled for icing. With an extra day off before Game 4 on Thursday (7, NESN), expect another entertaining tilt that could ultimately shift this matchup in a big way. "This is a time where everybody needs to dig in down three games to one, but there's a lot of belief in this room".

Colin Wilson almost tied with about 2 minutes left when his shot appeared to hit the post. Jake DeBrusk scored early in the third to seal the Bruins' win. "I think you're kind of innocent until proven guilty".

"You've got to simplify your game", he said. To me, if you're these players and you've seen that, you want to see it again. David Pastrnak has 11 points (four goals, seven assists), Brad Marchand has seven (two goals, five assists) and Bergeron, the other member of the trio when he's healthy, has five assists.

Some drama escalated on the rink when Flyers player Radko Gudas did his best to push some buttons for Penguins player, Sidney Crosby.

The Leafs kept coming and almost grabbed the lead later in the period, but Rask shot out his pad to deny Zach Hyman from in close as Toronto outshot Boston 12-7 through the opening 20 minutes. If he scored, it would have bee the goal of the playoffs.

He's 3-1 in the series with a 2.27 goals-against average and a.926 save percentage. The Bruins could have easily been down two or three goals early in this game but Rask kept pucks out of the net by any means necessary. "I mean, you can't let too much get to you otherwise it's just going to affect you worse".

"Quaider just threw it off the glass and we tried to get off", said Pastrnak.
