Tony Finau will still play Masters after dislocating ankle celebrating ace

Tony Finau will still play Masters after dislocating ankle celebrating ace

Watson, who retired from the tournament in 2016.

Also in that group on -3 is China's Li Haotong.

A contingent at 3-under included a player with experience near the top of an early Masters leaderboard.

Golf is an incredibly hard sport to play, but it doesn't require much athleticism at all. And if you didn't have a tear in your eye watching Jack choke up afterwards, you clearly are without a soul. Whether he tees it up at Augusta National is a different story.

Finau's Masters status was in doubt after he dislocated his ankle while wildly celebrating a hole-in-one during the iconic curtain-raising par-3 contest at Augusta on Wednesday.

If you take a close look you can see Finau pop his ankle back in before standing up, gingerly. However, in the midst of the celebration, Finau seemingly dislocated his ankle, dropping to the green in pain.

But the golfer was set to undergo an MRI scan on Thursday morning to assess any further damage.

Tony Finau will play through a high ankle sprain at this weekend's Masters.

It's a tough break for Finau, who's enjoying a breakout campaign.

Matt Kuchar joined Finau at 4-under for a positive start to his 12th Masters after tying for fourth previous year.

Finau stormed into contention after posting a spectacular run of four birdies between the second and ninth holes after opening with a bogey to turn in 33.

Describing Wednesday as a "crazy day", Finau tweeted his thanks that night to well-wishers for their concern.
