Incest father's final phone call before murdering own daughter and their baby

Incest father's final phone call before murdering own daughter and their baby

Officers responding to reports of gunfire found the two victims inside the pickup truck with a window shot out, police Lieutenant Lawrence Ash said. North Carolina authorities said that she contacted police for the welfare check Thursday, the morning after Pladl picked up his son from her care.

Thursday morning, police in Connecticut, North Carolina and NY found themselves at three crime scenes.

His biological daughter, whom he illegally married last July, 20-year-old Katie Pladl, was found dead in CT along with her adoptive father, 56-year-old Anthony Fusco.

In a 911 call obtained by WNCN in Raleigh, Steven's mother said her son admitted to killing his wife and child.

The 911 call came shortly after witnesses in rural western CT reported hearing what sounded like semi-automatic gunfire Thursday morning.

Steven and Katie Pladl, who are father and daughter, had a 7-month-old child together and that infant was in the custody of Steven's mother in Cary.

The relationship between Steven and Katie began when they met as adults. The wife told authorities that the month she moved out of the home Steven had been sleeping on the floor of Katie's bedroom. I think it was North Carolina [plate]. A Dutchess County probation officer spotted the minivan and called it in. The vehicle was running. "She's in NY and he told me he was on his way and after bringing the baby to her and then he was coming back". Officials later found Steven dead of a self-inflicted gunshot across the state line in NY.

"[Thursday's] events were sad and devastating", said Chief Capps. "We pray the families affected find some measure of comfort and peace as they work to cope with senseless tragedy". On Feb. 28, his daughter was granted bail on the condition she live with her adoptive parents in NY.

Following their January arrest, the father was let go on a $1 million bond but his daughter remained at the Wake County Detention Center until late February, when she posted a $12,000 secured bond, the Daily Mail reported.

Police said the incest crime happened at their home in the West End. She also said her daughter had written that Steven was making her call Katie her step-mom.

Katie and her adoptive father, 56-year-old Anthony Fusco, were found dead in a vehicle in CT.

The child was returned to her 35-year-old mother, but social workers will be keeping a close eye on them.

Alyssa discovered the forbidden relationship after reading the diary of Katie's younger sister.

Steven Pladl and his ex-wife, Katie's birth mother Alyssa, gave her up for adoption shortly after she was born in 1998. Capps said Steven Pladl had been living at the Knightdale residence where the boy was found dead, and that his mother had been living with the child in another home in the community while the incest case was pending trial in Virginia.
