BJP functionary, in Mumbai for party rally, dies on board train

BJP functionary, in Mumbai for party rally, dies on board train

While Shah went on to attack the Opposition for not letting Parliament function with its constant disruption, it is this comparison to animals that has infuriated the Opposition.

While asking party workers to ensure victory with absolute majority in the 2019 polls, Shah took care to say the NDA government will come to power again in the Centre and the state.

Through the day at the rally in Bandra-Kurla Complex, BJP's top brass appeased its bitter critic and ally Shiv Sena, signalling a patch-up to counter the Congress-NCP.

"Rahul ji, (Sharad) Pawar sahab, open your ears and listen".

Reaching out to dalits, Shah asserted the BJP government will never abolish reservation system. "And even if you want to end the reservation, BJP will never allow it".

Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Friday slammed the opposition's plan of forming a new front fight against BJP in next Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

"The countdown for 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun".

The Prime Minister said at a BJP parliamentary party meeting that the ruling party was doing an inclusive politics while the Opposition was doing divisive and negative politics due to the saffron party's rising strength, Union Minister Ananth Kumar told reporters. All booth workers from the state, office bearers from the BJP cells for minorities, SC, ST, Other Backward Classes, women and farmers will also attend the rally.

However, the BJP workers alleged that their special trains were late by two to five hours as the railways did not run them on priority. Shah accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of lying and claiming that the SC/ST Atrocities Act is being abolished. The people of the country are questioning you on four generations of rule.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi said Shah's "disrespectful statement" reflected his "mentality", PTI reported.

Congress senior spokesperson Anand Sharma said the remarks are "shameful" and speak of Shah's mindset.

Shah said the Congress had all along ignored the demands of the farmers but the Modi government has chose to give one and a half times the production cost of rabi and kharif produce to farmers.

Citing electoral wins in the North-East, Shah said Modi's popularity has not diminished.

"The activists were very rude and kept dropping names of big party leaders and insulting commuters". He said: "Hamari hardik iccha hain ki woh saath mein rahein (It is our heartfelt wish that they stay with us)".

Shah's arrival in the city resulted in traffic snarls on the Western Express Highway last night, as 25,000 local BJP workers took out a three-kilometre-long rally - including 10,000 bikers and several auto drivers - to welcome him.
