Amazon has sold Prime memberships to a hundred million of us

Amazon has sold Prime memberships to a hundred million of us

The ranks of people subscribing to Amazon Prime service for speedy delivery of purchases and streamed television has topped 100 million, the company's chief Jeff Bezos said Wednesday in an annual letter.

Jeff Bezos hasn't written his own business book, yet, but the Amazon CEO and founder has delivered enough lessons to fill multiple tomes in his annual letters to the Seattle's company's shareholders over the past two decades. He shared how many Amazon Prime members Amazon now has: 100 million. The figure also confirms that Prime is one of the world's largest Internet subscriptions and a behemoth among online retailers.

Bezos also addressed things like Amazon's growth in India, cashierless Amazon Go stores, and improvements to Alexa's intelligence that took place within the past year. The price fell sharply, thanks in part to the tweets from Pres. Trump about how Amazon was paying too little for U.S. postal service and was hurting small businesses.

"It would make flawless sense to us that there would be over 100 million global members, based not only on that number but everything we've seen since then", Levin said. We expanded Prime to Mexico, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and introduced Business Prime Shipping in the USA and Germany. More new Prime members signed up last year than any prior year, including 4 million in a week in late 2017. "Focusing on Prime membership is an excellent strategy for Amazon". According to Amazon's latest earnings report, marketplace sales have accounted for 50 percent to 51 percent of sales over the past year.
