Queen gives formal consent for grandson Harry to marry Markle

Queen Elizabeth called Meghan Markle a completely different name when she declared her formal consent to the royal wedding, but there's a totally valid reason behind it.

As PEOPLE reports, The Queen has now given her formal consent to the loved-up pair to Wednesday.

Although preparations have already been underway for several months, Queen Elizabeth finally gave her formal approval for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to tie the knot.

In a letter released by her Privy Council, The Queen described Harry as "my most dearly beloved grandson".

The other five are Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Andrew. What might intrigue Britons still getting to know Markle, 36, not to mention her fellow Americans, is that her actual given first name is Rachel.

Under the Act, the first six people in line to the throne require the Sovereign's approval to marry.

The news comes just one week after divorcee Markle was reportedly baptised into the Church of England by the Archbishop of Canterbury, removing a religious hurdle which prevents British royals from marrying Catholics.

She and Prince Harry will be married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been a couple officially since November 2016 and are due to marry in Spring 2018. And ifyou look at what the ladies were wearing at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, it's pretty clear Meghan has seemingly taken a cue from her future sister-in-law.

The royal family broke tradition in December when Markle was invited to attend the queen's special Christmas Day celebration - usually reserved for official family members.
