Nidahas Trophy: India win toss, elect to bowl in rain-delayed match

Nidahas Trophy: India win toss, elect to bowl in rain-delayed match

Having suffered an unexpected reverse against Sri Lanka in their tournament-opener, it is highly unlikely that India will experiment against a resurgent Bangladesh in their final league stage match.

Bangladesh presently are on cloud nine following their record chase against Sri Lanka in the third match of the tri-series. In such a truncated format and a packed tournament, the team that edges the other on the day takes the game.

Shardul Thakur has come down a long way from taking the domestic circuit by a storm to making a place for himself in a splendid medium pace attack of the current Indian team which consists of the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

However it was Zaheer, who had first started but Thakur insisted that he had learnt it all by his own.

"[Zaheer] did it actually, but I didn't watch much of his videos", Thakur said.

The Bangladesh captain also gave condolences to the victims of the US-Bangla plane crash and informed that the players will wear black armbands in homage to the departed souls. Although Nazmul Islam was underbowled in that game, the skipper believed that his spinners too are capable of stemming the flow of runs as India's.

For India the biggest worry is captain Rohit's form.

India's response got off to a nervy start, as openers Rohit Sharma (11) and Shikhar Dhawan (8) both went down cheaply to Akila Dananjaya (2-19).

Mahmudulla-led Bangladesh lost their opening game in the Twenty20 tri-series against India but bounced back in style to chase down 215, the fourth-highest successful chase in Twenty20s against Sri Lanka.

Manish Pandey was undoubtedly the star of the show when it came to the Indian batting in the T20I against Sri Lanka on Monday as he first held anchor and then finished with a flurry to score an unbeaten 42 off 31 balls.

In the middle-order, India will depend on Manish Pandey, who posted 37 and 27 not out in the two matches.

Though IPL's costliest Indian buy Jaydev Unadkat has been expensive in all the matches, his experience should keep him in the playing XI even though there is Siraj, who is a few clicks quicker compared to the Saurashtra pacer. Thakur has done well in the last two games while Vijay Shankar has also been steady with his variations.
