Eagles' Michael Bennett taken into custody, released; here's his mugshot

Eagles' Michael Bennett taken into custody, released; here's his mugshot

Houston police accused Bennett of shoving his way through security after the 2017 Super Bowl to get onto the field at NRG Stadium and celebrate with his brother, Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett. Acevedo said the officer checked on the condition of the paraplegic woman rather than trying to detain Bennett.

Acevedo said a detective did not actively start working the case until September because the police department had prioritized more serious cases.

Hardin said Bennett will remain in the Houston area for a few days, visiting family. Bennett was later escorted out of the courtroom by two Harris County deputies, but he did not appear to be handcuffed.

"I'm hopeful that when all the facts are out [ACEVEDO] would want to reconsider if he'd want to be that over the top with somebody who's just been charged with a crime and is presumed innocent", Houston defense attorney Rusty Hardin told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Philadelphia Eagles star Michael Bennett has just arrived for his first court appearance in Houston. "So there is nothing that we felt like they did wrong, or there is any blame in this matter".

Bennett is a three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion. He said the prosecution apparently has not talked to these people and "may not know who they are", but he will present their accounts. He obviously thinks highly of himself, but the leader of the Houston Police Department is not that impressed with the National Football League star.

Bail has been set - at $10,000 - and travel to Hawaii has been approved for indicted Eagles defensive lineman Michael Bennett.

Bennett, 32, went before a judge in Houston and was officially booked and processed over the incident.

Bennett then was told to take a seat in the jury box while Johnson dealt with the rest of his docket.

The charge of abuse of the elderly in Texas carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

"I want to be clear: There's probably not a person-and I'm going to put him on the same ground as a bunch of people-that we trust more than (GM) John Schneider and the Seahawks", Roseman told reporters in Orlando.

Chief Acevedo called Bennett "morally corrupt".
