Woods solid, Scott claws back at PGA event

Woods solid, Scott claws back at PGA event

FedExCup leader: Patton Kizzire. I've enjoyed every single challenge and having to sit out on the sidelines is not fun - especially since I know the golf course.

As he did in round one, Woods was forced to resort to numerous shots to get around the Champions Course, successfully hitting shots left to right and right to left, hitting shots high and low.

He teed off on the 10th and had two birdies and a bogey in his first nine holes. "I've done that, and I'm right there with a chance". It was a rough start.

He doesn't have an early tee time today.

The 14-time Major victor failed to produce anything spectacular at the Genesis Open last week, but by conjuring up a healthy dose of that legendary competitive spirit, has catapulted himself into contention at the PGA National's Champion Course in Florida. Tiger Woods is still hitting loose shots but he's hardly the only one this week.

His putter and everything else failed him on the disastrous No. 3-his 12th hole of the day-when he missed an opportunity to make up ground on the final par five of his round.

Luke List took advantage of the first tee time of the day to post a 4-under round of 66 on Friday and shares the lead with Jamie Lovemark after two rounds of the Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. I guess the greens are getting a little fast, so that's one thing.

Meanwhile, Kizzire was struggling, likely not helped by the rowdy scene that can throw of an unsuspecting player who is accustomed to calmer conditions.

"I'm really pleased with the way I played - a bunch of pars and just kind of hanging on", List said. "He was great out there". I definitely learned a lot this week. "Anything around 70 and you're going to be doing well today".

Rory McIlroy shot his second consecutive 2-over 72 and enters the weekend seven shots off the lead at 4-over. The only two-time victor on Tour this season shot an 8-over 78 to miss the cut at 12-over. Last week: Bubba Watson won the Genesis Open.

Lahiri opened the day with a bogey on 10th and added a second bogey on 13th, but a birdie on 18th, where he holed a 13-footer for birdie, saw him turn in one-over. So whether that calms down the more he plays and it doesn't become such a novelty that he's back out playing again because it's tiring.

Tiger Woods (+1) also remains on the brink of contention after firing a one-over 71, while Justin Thomas (-1), Louis Oosthuizen (-1), Keegan Bradley (+1) and Jason Dufner (+1) are among the other notable players still in the mix. Kizzire was experiencing another level of distraction.
