Willian double leads Chelsea into FA Cup quarters

Willian double leads Chelsea into FA Cup quarters

Chelsea's two newest players teamed up to score a gorgeous goal on Friday night.

Conte's side produced an excellent display against the Championship strugglers at Stamford Bridge, Willian stealing the show thanks to a brilliant brace, as Olivier Giroud also impressed with his first goal for the club and a pair of assists. The £17.5m signing from Roma, making his first start in nearly two months after an ACL injury, skipped to the by-line to deliver his cross. Tonight is another good step for him to prepare himself for the Barcelona game, then I have to make the best decision for the starting 11. When he plays in this way it's a great joy. Our attractive Spanish wing back (I refuse to believe this, he is clearly our striker, have you seen those goals?!) clearly had other ideas. We must be excited to play, especially against this team.

Antonio Conte acknowledged Chelsea must produce the "perfect game" to get the better of Spanish giants Barcelona in their Champions League last-16 tie.

"Good game, good performance".

A miserable outing got worse for Hull just after the break when Willy Caballero saved David Meyler's penalty, though Chelsea took a relaxed approach to increasing their lead, noticeably easing off after the interval.

Chelsea's second came on 27 minutes when another smart lay-off from Giroud found Fabregas, who played Pedro through with a terrific first-time pass.

"The second half was a different story, although it was game over".

And, despite having not much else to do after the save, the Argentine did well to stay alert when required keeping his fourth clean sheet in nine Chelsea appearances this season.

Chelsea fans didn't have to wait long for the opener as Willian fired them ahead after only two minutes, curling the ball in with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area.

Emerson managed to find some space down the left-hand side and pulled a low cross back to Giroud who did what he does best and slid the ball beneath Marshall to ensure Chelsea's safe passage into the next round.

In the build-up to the match Hull boss Nigel Adkins will have been instructing his troops to keep it tight from the off.

Despite the scoreline, Hull started the second half well and even earned a spot kick.
