Western's Weather Wrap: Snow Tonight, Sunday Sunshine

Western's Weather Wrap: Snow Tonight, Sunday Sunshine

A little rain or drizzle can fall at times on Saturday.

Watch for a rain or snow shower mixing with a pocket of sleet, freezing rain or freezing drizzle through Saturday morning.

The wintry mix will change to snow by Sunday evening and night.

The weather service issued a "hazardous weather outlook" about the possibility of some accumulating snow starting Friday.

For Wichita, just expect continued cold temperatures and breezy winds for the rest of the night, with some flurries moving through late and exiting tomorrow morning.

Sunshine is back in the forecast for Monday but midweek looks fairly cloudy. Less ice will lead to higher snowfall totals and more ice will lead to lower snowfall totals, which is what is to be expected across a large portion of the region. Looking ahead to middle part of next week we are looking at a few chances of spotty showers late Wednesday night and Thursday, highs should remain those days in the low 40s.

The National Weather Service said the system could drop up to 14 inches (36 cm) of snow in some areas.

Clear skies early Friday on Long Island will give way to clouds later in day, and light winds will make it feel colder than the actual temperature, forecasters said. North wind around 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour. Roadways may become glazed over with light ice accumulations. It's means a snow day for students but it hasn't all been fun and games. Southwest winds 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Some early-morning snow in the Chicago area caused flight delays and cancelations at the city's two main airports.
