Three law enforcement officers shot in Georgia

One police officer was killed and two deputies were shot Friday morning while they were serving a warrant in Georgia, according to 11 Alive.

The incident was reported to be on St. Francis Court in Locust Grove.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said on its Twitter page Friday night that the suspect was 39-year-old Tierra Guthrie. The two injured deputies were Michael Corley and Ralph Sidwell "Sid" Callaway, both with the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

"I heard all the sirens and I came from behind the house and I saw all the police officers rolling through", another neighbor told Fernandes. Price said the 26-year-old officer's wife is pregnant and expecting their second child any day.

About three minutes after the Locust Grove officer arrived, there was an altercation, and that's when the officer, deputies and suspect were shot.

"We just can't believe this happened", he said.

One of the deputies was shot through his bullet proof vest in the stomach and is undergoing surgery, McBrayer said.

Two of the officers were taken from the scene to a hospital by helicopter, while the third was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Police blocked off the subdivision and were not letting those who don't live there enter.

Neighbors told WSB-TV the shots sounded like firecrackers going off.

Yellow police tape cordoned off a section of one home's front yard.
