Packers receive four compensatory picks in 2018 NFL Draft

The NFL released its compensation picks for the 2018 NFL draft, and as expected the Patriots got one.

The bulk of the comp selections are in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds, but the Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos were each given a pick at the end of the third round.

The Giants have the No. 2 overall selection in the draft after finishing with a 3-13 record, which allows them to select second in each round of the draft (save for the aforementioned seventh which was traded for Cockrell).

Per the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The Baltimore Ravens, who lead the National Football League with 49 compensatory picks received since 1994, garnered just one pick, a sixth-rounder.

Compensatory draft picks are based on how many compensatory free agents a team losses.

The Cardinals' original fourth-round pick was traded a year ago in a deal with the Chicago Bears.

All four of the selections will come in the sixth round, with the Raiders receiving the 36th, 38th, 42nd and 43rd selections in the round, representing the 210th, 212th, 216th and 217th overall choices, respectively. They won't be adding to that total via compensatory picks this year.

Under NFL rules, the number of compensatory draft picks can not exceed the number of franchises.
