Don't call us: Apple users say iPhone X struggles with basics

More exactly, some users are reporting that, at times, they cannot answer incoming calls. The users complain the smartphone wakes up after 6 to 10 seconds before the handset begins ringing, which is enough time for the call to be diverted to voicemail instead.

Customers on Apple's online support forum have said the screen on the US$999 device does not turn on when trying to unlock the device to answer a phone call.

After entirely moving their biometric authentication process towards facial recognition on the iPhone X, i.e. Face ID, from a reliable and ...

The increases in price were reported first by the newspaper Economic Times, Apple has confirmed the price hikes but did not make any further comment about the decision made by the India government to raise tariffs. The delayed display issue means that users can't swipe the on-screen button to answer a call.

Though most people likely spend their days texting, messaging, and posting pictures to social media, phone calls are the cornerstone of a smartphone. Apple says it's looking into the issue, but in the meantime, it looks like some users have been able to temporarily fix the issue by reinstalling iOS using iTunes. "Whenever I receive an incoming call in my iPhone X, ringtone starts but the display comes in after six-eight seconds", a user explained the issue on the support forums.

Twitter user Vishal Shah complained that iPhone service centers in India failed to fix iPhone X's with this problem, while in the USA phones with the glitch are replaced quickly.

However, sales of the pricey flagship iPhone X helped boost the company's profits to $20bn (£14bn).

This is not the first time Apple iPhone X has been marred by problems.

According to those familiar with the iOS roadmap, Apple had planned to completely overhaul the homescreen of the iPhone - replacing the grid of icons that now confronts users. Previously, many users have reported the appearance of a green line.
