Steve Bannon Issues Apology as Trump Allies Flood the Airwaves

Steve Bannon Issues Apology as Trump Allies Flood the Airwaves

In addition to assailing Mr. Bannon, Mr. Miller sharply criticized Mr. Wolff and his book, saying it "is best understood as a work of very poorly written fiction".

Miller called Wolff a "garbage author of a garbage book" and also called Steve Bannon, the Breitbart chief and former Trump chief of staff, an "angry and vindictive person".

Even as the White House continues to deny the legitimacy of Michael Wolff's book Fire and Fury, the Trump administration surrogates sent on television are stuck talking about it anyway-and when they try to avoid it, the chaos only expands. As Tapper tried to move on to specific questions, like the president's recent comments about Steve Bannon, Miller interrupted to praise Trump for everything that he accomplished in the 2016 election.

President Trump tweeted twice following the exchange, supporting Miller, denouncing Tapper as a "CNN flunky", a vowing to win the argument of attacks in the media.

Earlier this week, Dana Rohrabacher, the Republican Congressman from California who is a steadfast Trump supporter, spent most of his airtime on CNN scolding anchorwoman Ana Cabrera for the channel's coverage of Trump, while avoiding questions about the FBI's investigation into Russian meddling in the last U.S. presidential election.

Miller, in turn, scolded Tapper for making "condescending" and "snide" remarks and bashed CNN for airing "24 hours of negative, anti-Trump, hysterical coverage".

Tapper cut him off and said: "I think I've wasted enough of my viewers' time".

"The author is a garbage author of a garbage book", said Miller, explaining that the depiction of the President was contrary to his own experience.

Y'all remember Stephen Miller, senior policy adviser to totally stable genius man Donald Trump?

In the book, Bannon predicted that the special counsel investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation would "crack" the younger Trump "like an egg on national TV".

Trump also tweeted that throughout his life, "my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart".

"I regret that my delay in responding to the inaccurate reporting regarding Don Jr has diverted attention from the president's historical accomplishments in the first year of his presidency", Bannon said.

White House officials said their records showed that Mr. Wolff had last talked to the president in February, but Mr. Wolff said he had talked to the president several times after that. "You're being obsequious, you're being a factotum in order to please him, OK?"

In a statement provided to the political website Axios, Bannon, who left the White House in August, said Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr.
