Obama will be Letterman's first guest on his new Netflix series

Other confirmed guests include George Clooney, Jay-Z, Malala Yousafzai, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern. Obama's episode - which marks the former Commander in Chief's first talk-show appearance since leaving office - will be released on January 12; subsequent episodes will follow monthly. He's just the first in a series of big names in store for the series with each episode focusing on "one extraordinary figure whom Dave finds fascinating". The Netflix release says, "The conversations are intimate, in-depth and far-reaching". New episodes will roll out monthly.

President Barack Obama will be Letterman's first guest [.] and the interview will serve as Obama's first television talk show appearance since leaving office.




"And then the first day of Stephen's show, when he went on the air, an energy left me and I felt like, 'You know, that's not my problem anymore, '" Letterman told NBC's Tom Brokaw in 2016. It marks Letterman's first TV gig since he signed off of "The Late Show" in 2015.

Netfix and Letterman announced plans for the new show back in August, with RadicalMedia and Letterman's Worldwide Pants producing. So we weren't surprised to learn last summer that David Letterman was putting together an original series for Netflix. There will be six hour-long episodes total.
