Netanyahu heads to Moscow to warn about Iran in Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, visiting Moscow on Monday, set out Israel's red lines in the Middle East for Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I made clear to Putin that we will stop it if it doesn't stop by itself".

"Our talks, which we hold periodically, in my view, greatly contribute to achieving these goals and I am certain that they will do so now as well", Netanyahu concluded. "If it is not halted on its own then we will act to stop it".

He also said Israel will not necessarily need to fight a third war in Lebanon. He said Iran is stockpiling in Lebanon precision missiles against Israel.

A day earlier, IDF Brig.

Netanyahu, who had arrived in Moscow earlier Monday, had three separate meetings, spending several hours with the Russian president.

It will be the first time the two leaders have met face to face since Trump's landmark recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, a hotly contested announcement that shook the worldwide community and sparked waves of protest around the world. Their last meeting took place in Sochi in August 2017. Both men, he said, "understand" Israel's positions.

Putin and Netanyahu are due to discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as "pressing worldwide and regional issues" including the peace process between the Israelis and the Palestinians and the situation in Syria, the Kremlin said. -Gen. Herzi Halevi, and Putin brought Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu to the talks.

He is likely to press Putin on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as well as urge the Russian president to curb Iran's influence in Syria.

The visit has been confirmed by the Prime Minister's Office.

The two leaders were meeting at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow, where together they toured a new exhibit on the Sobibór extermination camp.

Netanyahu thanked Putin for coming to the museum, and he said their joint appearance "reflects our common struggle against the greatest evil that humanity has known, and the very bad price paid by my people, the Jewish people, and the Russian people and the great sacrifice of 20 million Russians alongside our 6 million, and the heroism of the Red Army in achieving victory over the Nazis". "That is our mission also today - that is what I want to talk to you about: our joint efforts to advance security and stability in our regions, and of course on the mutual cooperation between us, between Russian Federation and Israel". Netanyahu and Putin will be participating at the Centre to mark the memory of Holocaust victims and Leningrad's liberation anniversary.

"The history of the 20th century shows to what extent the consequences of such essentially anti-human ideology can lead". This is the original of Oscar Schindler's letter to his wife.
